Monarch Butterfly

On Endangered Species Day and every day, Cherry Ridge LLC is dedicated to protecting the delicate habitats of species that are at risk. Some animals have seen dwindling populations, but many rely on wetlands and their biodiversity to keep them safe. This is why it is important to protect wetlands, beyond just their contributions to humans and our global environment.

Wetlands serve as essential habitats for many different animals, including some endangered species. One of the most prevalent reasons is because of their rich ecosystems and variety of plant life that help sustain certain migration and nesting habits.

The monarch butterfly is a species that has seen a population decrease in recent years due to their food sources disappearing. This is where a certain wetland plant comes in. The Swamp Milkweed is a primary host plant for Monarchs, the nectar becoming an integral food source for the butterfly as they migrate from Mexico.

Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on the leaves of the milkweed plant, and once they hatch, the leaves become the food source of the larvae as well. It is just another way that wetlands maintain rich biodiversity and support a variety of species throughout their lifespan.

The Monarchs and their reliance on swamp milkweed are just one of the many symbiotic relationships that thrive in wetlands. The cycle never ends, as one living thing can thrive because of another living thing. This is where the emphasis on protecting the habitats that make this possible comes from.

Our mission towards environmental stewardship is a cohesive fight on all fronts. Not only do wetlands deserve to be protected, but so do the endangered species that rely on them. The variety of animals and plants that thrive in these environments is so important. Not only do wetlands serve as habitats, but they also help humans actively fight back against climate change and other environmental issues.

These types of initiatives are so important in making the Earth a better place for every person, animal, plant, habitat, and so on. This is part of the reason that Cherry Ridge LLC is consistently trying to ensure that these precious ecosystems will be protected for generations to come. If you are starting a new project, Cherry Ridge LLC can help you protect wetlands and the species that they support.
